STOP! Don't throw in the towel just yet...

For your business to be successful on social media, you need to know how to engage your followers instead of just posting to them.

Right about now I guess you'll be thinking "Okay, Dane, How do I do that then?"

To help you, here are my '3 Quick Social Media Engagement Boost Tips' for your business.

1) Make your posts less 'salesly' - be more human

When we’re on social media, the last thing we want is to be bombarded with sales pitches and constant ‘buy my product’ messages.

Instead, don't be afraid to share stories from 'a day in the life of your business' and the fun 'behind the scenes' stuff.

When the time does come for asking for the sale, why not try a light-hearted approach? Instead of saying ‘buy my product’ why not try ‘here’s 3 very biased reasons why you need our product in your life’ and make use of emoji's to show the light-hearted nature of the message.

Always remember...

  • In business, people buy from people.
  • On social media, people like to see people being people.

2) Ask good questions that motivate your audience to respond

Whether as a post on its own or at the end of that helpful blog you've just shared, why not try asking questions.

Here are a few examples:

  • What has been the highlight of your week?
  • What is your favourite ________ ?
  • What are your thoughts on _________?
  • Which tip did you find most helpful?

3) Spend time interacting with your followers

Next time you’re waiting on your bus or train, spend that 10 minutes taking the time to like and comment on things that matter to your followers. Here are some examples:

  • Have they just won an award? Congratulate them!
  • Have they taken on a new member of staff? Say hello to them!
  • Have they just written a brilliant article? Share it for them!

The more you involve your social media followers in your posts, the more they will be interested in your business.
